The pillow next to mine
Holds memories for me all the time.
I remember your head leaving a dent
In the pillow beside me before you went.
I know the time has come to part
But you left a big dent in my heart.
It's a dent that only you can fill.
I know some day that it will
Be filled by you, way in the future,
Because our love we carefully nurture.
Since you've been gone I eye the spot
Where your head and dent are not.
The pillow lies there smooth and bare
Just waiting for your head to lay there.
