Who in life ever thought a door
To be anything other than just a board
It stands there never doing much of anything
And sometimes opened when a bell does ring
And yet in some ways a door can have such presence
And with some actions have such reverence
For it can serve to hold a warm embrace
As two bodies push close face to face
Against its grain, such passion grows
It causes lovers to curl their toes
And yet this door will not reveal
The way they love. The way they feel
But it will close as in a sleep
And forever silent, like sleeping deep
