That precipice,
oddly enough since finding the bravery
to have said hello,
was almost a constant step away.

The merest hint that you were there,
and I could feel the ground give way beneath my toes,
leaving me perched there,...
both curious and waiting.

Hearing your words, even now,
there was a desire.
God help me for feeling it,
especially after the pains to construct walls
to keep it at bay.

It all came to the fore as soon as I felt,
your hand encircle my throat.
Your pulse against mine, relentlessly beating,
both a cross and an albatross,
potential salvation and a weight to bear.
