The Evening Tide

The constant, eternal
Whisper of the sea
Its salty stanchion ever changing
Always the same concerto

Kiss me blissfully
Miss me when I'm gone

Briny caresses
Essential tonic
Giver of life

The ocean rises to meet her mountain lover
Mate they will
Meld to synthesize man's detritus
With nature

Grinding mountains into sand
Returning the sand to the beach
To make new hills

And create a newer, gentler earth
Where dolphins, whales and gulls
Can sing and laugh in peace

Life
A sand castle
Built by children
In the morning sun

Washed away by the evening tide

I enjoyed the theme of this poem as well as your treatment of it. Then your summing up of the poem and of life in the last five lines is quite inspired.

I think those last lines on their own are quite brilliant and I would humbly suggest that they become a poem all on their own:

Life
A sand castle
Built by children
In the morning sun

Washed away by the evening tide
