All I ever wanted was to bring you joy
To love you honestly, to never be coy
To express in actions and thoughts
That my love for you could never be bought
By the smiles and charms of a stranger.
All I am and have come to desire
Is to be the spark in you that inspires
Your soul to open and your wings to spread
That in your prose we could be wed
And protect you in my loving arms from danger.
But, as it often happens within the shades of blue
I am not destined to be the sought out Muse
Only the blood and flesh to keep you warm
I took a gamble, hoping to avoid the scorn
With only my heart lost in the wager.
