Darkness around but not within
Slick with sweat, flushed with heat
Caught in a tantalizing agony expertly crafted
Replacing one longing with another
Replacing one agony with another
Tears with moans
Christening this unfamiliar bed as my own
In some strangely erotic sacrament
Received in the darkest parts of the night
When the keen edge of hunger and alone is always strong
Animal instinct and carnal desire
Yet as sensitive as any comfort or empathy could be
(In its way)
And I tasted autonomy
In between my teeth like saltysweet skin
...Without fear
