Rise up and follow me,
Though I’m no leader
And there’s no place to go
Save the flickering light.

Invisible shackles, self-judgment, torture
Cliché, cliché, cliché,
Perversely so.

Rise up and look around you,
Feel the ground beneath you,
Expanse above.
Shatter the void
Unlock pain.

Jaundiced
Over-sexual
Undersexed
Soul-starved
Lonely
Stifled
Maimed
Halved and quartered
WoWed.

Rise up and brace yourself
Though the gusts will knock you over,
You can learn their feel.

Rise up,
Though the Earth’s no longer firm
And there’s no place to go

Save the flickering light.
