I sit in my Garden for endless hours
And as I sit there I study the flowers.
I remember when the rain was falling,
I thought the weather was appalling,
But now I know in this sunny season,
The rainfall came for a very good reason.

The scent from the roses is everywhere,
Bees and butterflies flutter in the still air.
The flowers with their colourful hue
All help to further enhance the view.
'Tis now that I remember the rain showers
Essential to the beautiful flowers.

The sun, the rain and occasional nutrition
Are the ingredients for the plants fruition.
By a process of annual propagation
We plant the gardens of this great nation.
As we each sit in our gardens in summer hours
It's time to appreciate the flowers.

Digging and weeding have ceased to be chores
As we sit and enjoy the great outdoors.
Our gardens give us so much pleasure
We have learned to love and treasure
Every wondrous, plant, flower and tree
Which we have nurtured so tenderly.
