I rode for two days,
Without sleep or food,
Ahead of the horde,
To warn the city.

People of Kuhna Gurganj,
Bukhara and Samarqand,
Those cities are no more!
They have fallen!

Now the Great Horde rides,
To the heart of Khwarazm.
An army ten thousand strong,
Will lay you siege.

Nothing can stop them,
The wrath of an angry God,
Those Turanian tribes,
Out of Avestan prophecy.

They come from the steppes,
Crushing all in their wake,
And ride ever westward,
Until they are at our gates.
