The Hall

Days pass by
People shove past
But that hall is there
With that light cast

My feet drag
As my burden grows
Thoughts in my head
That no one knows

Eyes dart
And mind races
Searching through the gloom
While I take the paces

Drawing closer
Fighting the masses
Down the hall
Where the light passes

I see her
Rounding the bend
Surrounded by lesser embers
To which none can contend

She flows through
Like sand through fingers
My grasp was too weak
But the feeling lingers

My neck disobeys
My insistent will
As I turn away
My hopes go to nill

Her eyes escape mine
Their light put out
As we go
On about

I walk away
But I do not sorrow
For the light is gone
Only until tomorrow
