Wandering
Further
Deeper into the labyrinth
Dispelling darkness
Torch ablaze
Warming me less these days
As I grow more weary and cold
Somewhere up above
Twin suns lingering in the West
Twilight longing to unfold
Despite a guide in my head saying,
This isn't a race
And feet demanding I give my boots a rest
I insist on putting myself to the test
Wishing to lengthen the distance behind
Tired
I keep a steady pace
Disallowing my thoughts to rewind
Unconsciously
Fishing through the pockets of my vest
My hand stumbles upon an antique skeleton key
Belonging to the door that initiated this quest
Not so long ago
Perhaps last week
Now seemingly eternity
And I realize
Here
I am a fleeting guest
A floating ghost
Haunting the Infinite Mine
Journeying through corridors
Navigating each fork, twist and weave
Once again
Coming to my senses
My only saving grace?
Saving myself from never wanting to leave
I turned my back upon this treasure chest
Filled with charms
Desires of my earlier ages
The gold and silver
The leather and lace
Wine of truth
And wisdom of sages
It just wasn't my time
I later confessed
To the man oddly dressed in a superhero cape
He's one of my patients
A real basket case
And as for me?
Well .....
..... I'm just a victim of circumstances
Circumstances I don't have the luxury to escape
