THE JUNGLE

The walk is long, sometimes arduous;
the journey never ending.
Trees grow wider, and the roots and vines
grow longer to trip up and slow me down.
Sunlight still exists, but now the shadows dominate.
Light is faint, its rays breaking through
sporadically and only with great effort
to let me see.

A pool of dark has surrounded me;
taking a small step in every direction, I stumble.
Greedily I seek the light. desperately wanting
to bathe in its glow,
sloughing off this lethargy.

Confusion is my companion right now,
as I try to make sense of my surroundings.
Noises, voices- all saying something different.
What is true, and what is not?

Slowly I pick my way through this maze of unknowns,hoping only that in the end, the journey will revealvsome answers, and make
the struggle all worthwhile.
