A known killer deep inside
slowly makes him die.
A scary thought of what
normal life is like,
a family he loves is by his side,
as a known killer slowly
makes him die.
A desperate act
by family and friends
gives him hope until the end.
Never alone, surrounded by
family and friends,
dying slowly, so slowly and painfully,
fighting for breath,
trying to kill the
killer deep inside.
A last hope,
to surgery he goes,
to get rid of the old and
make way for the new.
Goodbye he waves
to his sick old lungs
and farewell to
the killer inside.
A sudden ray appears
as new hope arrives,
to keep away
the killer inside.
Pill after pill he takes
Day after day
to chase away
the killer inside.
Minutes to hours
and hours to days
can't keep away
the killer inside.
The new beginning
he thought he had
was no match for
the killer inside.
He laid there and watched
his family wait and pray as
the killer inside took him
deeper and farther away until
one day his fight was over,
the winner is ...
... the killer inside.
Leaving his family to grieve,
he can't stay, he must succumb to
the killer inside.
There is hope, just not for him
or the others like him who have faded away.
With money and a walk,
hope and faith will destroy
the killer in them.
The family and friends
whom lost a dear friend
beg of you to help end the reign of
the Killer in them.

This poem was written by me years before and posted on a long lost membership on deviant art.
This poem was written about my cousin Matthew David Colman who died at the age of twenty-seven of a horrible disease called Cystic Fibrosis. The next time you are in a lecture hall or a grocery store, or some other place where there are many people there, look around. One in every three people carry the Cystic Fibrosis gene and do not know it. For more information about Cystic Fibrosis, google Cystic Fibrosis or contact me!
We miss you Matt but we are glad you are no longer in pain. Baruch Ashem that you no longer hurt. We love you Matt, no matter where you are.
