Would that the lady beside me grant me her kiss
her lips to inspire my pen to write
words that please the lady is all I wish
as I wish her to remain within my sight

Her beauty would keep the pen flowing
caressing paper with a feather light touch
for such pleasure is a seed worth sowing
but only if the lady grants me such luck

her smiling lips alone grant this
though she kiss my cheek or where she will
the slightest pleasure I dare not miss
though a single kiss may be my fill

and should it please the lady, I hope to find
that I should return the pleasure of a kiss in kind
