One hour and forty eight minutes is all it took

Two separate calls because your battery went kaput

Within that time we mostly cried

Fully knowing that our love has never died

Recalling memories from all our years

The giggles, laughs and yet more tears

You explained yourself regarding him

I never fully understood until then

It was me, that poison affected

Eating at you

Until you felt hollow, neglected

You opened up to me and I deflected

Sharing my woes the reason I was dejected

I was doing my best to justify your place

The reason I needed you within my space

Selfish is this and I didn't think

Nor understand how close we were to the brink

Your feelings are just because they are true

I never intended to be the one to hurt you
