A letter came from the Army today,
A woman heard her child say.
Without even looking, he understood,
Army mail is rarely good.
After he read it, he knew he was right,
Tonight would be their last night.
The time had come for the Soldier to pack,
He was going back to Iraq.
The seasons changed, time passed by very slow,
Then they had just two weeks to go!
The boy missed his father more and more,
He sat waiting by the door.
The Soldiers wife was very excited,
They would soon be reunited!

Someone came here from the Army today,
A woman heard her child say.
Her world slipped away, she understood,
Army visits are never good.

In remembrance to the Fallen and those they left behind...

Well put

I can only imagine what it must feel like to suffer such a loss.

Thought provoking.

Realistically captures the expected dread and arrival of bad news that an army family always hopes never to receive.
