The Letter

For days I await the arrival
Knowing what's inside
Anxiously hoping today is the day
Then the next and still nothing
Wondering what happened
I wait and wait
Soon I say
But then nothing
And then the day arrives
Running to read your words
Smelling you touching what you touched
My heartbeat quickens and my mouth goes dry
They sing to me as I read them
And I know
Our love will never die
