Through darkness I have traveled
Often stumbled and sometimes fell
Battered, bruised, occasionally crumbled
Passing near the gates of hell
Many trials and tribulations
Have plagued my days and nights
So hard to find my way through life
When there were so few lights
At times the dark overwhelmed me
And I felt so all alone
I hoped and prayed to find an end
For God to take me home
Little did I know back then
How he would heed my call
He dried my tears and took my hand
And led me down a hall
He opened up a door for me
And light came pouring through
On the other side of that door
Stood a light, that was you
He promised love, you gave it
In a way I never before knew
He promised joy and hope and strength
He gave me that in you
I count my blessings everyday
And start the count with you
I have finally found what I’ve been looking for
A love complete and true
So now each day instead I pray
God keep you safe from harms
And bring you quickly home to me
And lay me in your arms
