I loved her so closely
the suffocation got to her;
I needed to let go a little
and now what do i do with my self?

And so -

I loved her from afar
only to find that the distance left her untouched;
I watched as she evolved, grew, moved on,
What do i set my eyes on now?

What is this distance needed in love?
How do i understand its meter?
How will i walk that line?
And when I do
Will there be anything left to love?

I liked this methaphor

...and wished there were more of the kind to weave into the poem. As to the question of distance and rhythm - I am afraid these elements in the dance of relationships (I hope I am not mixing the metaphores here) are ever changing; good question though...
