The moon over the lake,
shone weakly through the haze,
barely visible through the darkness.

How I wanted you to see it,
by my side in the cool night air.
I could think of nothing else.

The stars, though dim, twinkled,
again I thought of your eyes,
which outshone them all.

Even though the lake was gray,
with the lack of light,
it's deep blue was pale, next to your gaze.

The photos taken will amaze all that see,
I had to be there to believe it,
but still, I felt empty, you weren't there.
