The morning chill
Reminds me of you
Thoughts of snuggling under the blankets
You spooning me with your arm wrapped around my body
Your strong hand gently cradling my breast
Your scent and the warmth of your body

The morning chill
Reminds me of me
Hiding under the blankets
Flannel pajamas wrapped around my body
Once rich with love and fulfillment
Now poor in disownment and loss

Alone, now, curled into myself
No one to share day to day matters and marvels
Thoughts and experiences kept to myself
Missing the warm exchange of smiles and caresses
Conversations, laughter, and whispered longings silenced
No pleasure in the morning chill, only a reminder of what no longer is

A chilling portrait

That could only be worse

If the other person was

Cold, remote, and still there...
