There was a time not long ago
when men and women danced
with heads exposed to everyone
gaily hatless they pranced.

Their freedom from a tiny source
that solitary pill
this time of love so wild and free
so many dreams fulfilled.

From SoHo to Haight Ashbury
it was a time of love
nakedness of so many forms
the juices shared thereof

forever died in bitter sun
the naked pled for aid,
but lacking more they tried a hat
to find a bit of shade.

The night wears a sombrero now
worn so judiciously
when couples or more come to dance
they do so harmlessly.
