tears freeze
icicles on the crags of a barren soul

where once lay a vast plain of lush growth
open crevices now finger their way through the stark landscape

passions and fire raged here once
ingniting an all consuming blaze;
joyous--celebratory

the blaze is gone now; burned out
squelched by the continuous onslaught

weary
tired
oh, so tired
an exhaustion borne of the battle

the desolate landscape lays vacant now
evacuated by all life--
perhaps.

perhaps a tiny ember remains.
