in a small room
at dusk
with enough wine
for a long night
and candles
of course
candles
they read the poem
held it gently in their mouths
rolled it on their tongues
the poem undressed them
down to the skin
then down to the muscle
then down to the bone
then down to their souls
their candle flame souls swayed together
the words writhed through their teeth
and crawled through our lips

he wrote with his thick pen in her mouth

in the dim light
she swallowed the words spilling out of him
she was nourished by the dreamlike visions -
