I remember that sad December day
When you closed your eyes
Took your last breath
Slipped away from me
And my tears fell bitter and stinging
Like the cold winter rain
That lashed against my window

You were my ray of sunshine
The light that was my guide
You loved me unconditionally
For who i was
You encouraged me to be myself
And stood up for me against all odds
You were so special
I wish i could have told you
How much i loved you
Before you left me

Now you are gone
I am empty and no sun shines for me
There is only rain, bitter and cold
There are only tears
I see you sometimes in my dreams
Like an angel watching over me

Sometimes i feel you near me
And for a while the sun shines on me again
I feel your love
All around me
Engulfing me like a warm blanket
Protecting me

But you are always gone too soon
I am cold and empty again
And there is only rain
Lasing on my window
