The rain

The rain falls
I stand alone
Salty tears flow
Sliding down my cheeks
Dancing to the ground
Forming puddles at my feet
Shivering as the numbness fades
Cold icy droplets
Soaking my skin
Cleansing my soul
Washing away the pain
My heart breaks again
Crumbling in familiar pieces
Rivers of blood mixing
With clear salty water
Creating rivers
Running in crimson ribbons
Down to the wet ground
Merging with the icy puddles
I pick up the pieces
Starting over again
Remembering to breath
As the wounds heal
The colors dilute
Until the rivers run clear
The scars are reminders
Memories I hope never fade
