Click hereThe world has lost its mystery. The road
Will lead to concrete places, well-defined,
And we that wondered how the river flowed
Have all been told, our quest's been undermined
Since at end of each long path we go
We'll find that others went that way before:
The trail's been blazed, there's tyre-tracks in the snow,
The deserts aren't deserted any more -
And yet, perhaps it's just my frame of mind?
I can still travel through a land unknown
To marvel at the people that I find
And make the difference of the day my own;
Hard facts forgotten, I may gladly stray
In wide-eyed wonder – Up, up and away!
Wonderfully done and uplifting.
I loved the contrasting images of
"The trail's been blazed, there's tyre-tracks in the snow,/The deserts aren't deserted any more - " and yet their commonality.
I was surprised about the meter of "tyre-tracks in the snow." On my side of the pond "tyre-" sounds more like 2 syllables than one; hence I wasn't expecting to hear "the" before "snow."
