The rose.

You are the rose
Soft petals hiding seductive scents
Velvet smooth to touch
Hiding firm bud within

You can be owned
Plucked and enjoyed
Till you wither from care
and tossed aside for fresher flowers

This is the foolish man
Who sees only what they can enjoy
Who calls who you his for his needs
But doesn't take care to yours.

Your thorns he trims
Leaving you vunerable
Stripped and bare
To his whims

Then in ignorance wonders
Why you start to wilt
From his careless attentions
Left to starve on just water
Thinking its all you needed

You remember the Gardener
His attention to you
Your needs he gave freely
You grew great on the vine

From bud to blossom
In all your glory
Bursting colors abound
Roots deep in the soul

His tender touch of your petals
His respect of your thorns
Food and water feed your roots
You grew proud being loved

You miss the garden
And the Gardener misses you
