I snipped a rosebud pruning -
quiet by mistake.

Carried it 'round in my palm
it's beauty not to forsake.

To my delight it stated blooming -
I could feel it in my hand!

Wanting to encourage it, I placed it 'tween my lips

The moisture it found there was only but a sip.

I watched it open further as upon my dash it rode.

I ran my errands smiling and I wondered why it grew -

Could it sense it's time was almost through?

It's existence was in minutes compared to mine!

It's scent was barely noticeable but it lingered all the same,

It's life was over but my pleasure was gained.

When I got home the petals had fallen.
