As water rushes over rocks and changes them,
so, too, days rush over me,
Changing and molding me
into a whole new soul.
Each day's pressure and demands
move me about,
Tumbling me sometimes headlong
into others that also ride the day's wave.
Yet when the current abates
and I settle to the quiet,
Only then do I notice
that the rush has taken a bit of my roughness
smoothed my edges
Made it easier for the next wave to
just roll off of me.
I hope I reach a point,
like these smooth rocks I skip across the water
where life just rolls on around and over and through me
and I can quietly sit and enjoy the rush
without having to be tumbled anymore.
