He walks alone, searching for a way,
to find a smile, for something nice to say.
The direction unknown, his steps unclear,
will he not find that one? That’s his foremost fear.

Thoughts of his past and of those he has known,
but the journey continues; he doesn’t wish to go home.
So he enters the meadow, taking step by step,
searching for something he knows not yet.

Spring has erupted, the flowers so alive,
the fowl fly together and there’s a beehive.
Trees spreading forth all their shades of green,
he takes in a breath of the air so fresh and clean.

His mind is in turmoil as he walks down the this trail,
feelings buried so deep that his heart yearns to wail.
He’s hoping for some sign for something that matters.
life must be worthwhile and not torn to shatters.

He’s lost from within as he comes upon a creek,
and wonders what he’ll see in his reflection if he dares take a peek.
There’s sadness and wanting, it’s all very clear,
but there is also desire for one to call dear.

The journey continues, he trusts in fate,
as long as there’s breath, it’s never too late.
The shadows grow longer and the sun is setting,
one must move on from the past, no sense in regretting.
