I have a secret friend who lives up north
in a sun-drenched house by the sea.
Sometimes I visit him
but not too much.
He has a lot of things
with which to play
but he's not a very entertaining man.
We've been meeting for some years
he liking me
me trying to like him back.

I smell the Atlantic salt
when he calls wishing I was there.
I guess I'll go to see him.
He has a hot tub on the deck outside
a Miata in the drive
and if I close my eyes real tight
I can make him disappear
leaving me with his toys
alone
a very happy girl.
