Lightning chases the calm away
kinetic streaks across an autumn sky
puncuating the unearthly stillness
gathering winds rage wildly
trees twisting, groaning in protest

I watch in fascination.

Furiously the maelstrom continues
nature whirling in abandonment
glorying in her absolute power
reckless and terrifying
silence shattering

I laugh in utter delight.

Gleefully I embrace the elements
seeking the awesome intensity
sheer violence exploding around me
restless energy spinning, untamed
whirlwind of passion

No quarter asked, none given.

A wonderful view of a storm's power

Put in its place

And of the greater power of a mind that comprehends

Refusing to bend and cower.
