Lingering and loving sighs
She watches from her window seat
Her guitar teacher disappears
Into the silence of the street
Six lessons now with each she fell
Growing harmony along
Deeper under teacher’s spell
She longed so hard to play his song
A lesson taught in love today
His fingers down her neck he played
And held her close like his guitar
Her heartstrings he had gently strummed
Her body still warm from his touch
In her an aching need was made
To play loves encore once again
And never let this music fade
Now he has gone into the dark
A week must pass before delight
She strains to hear the only sound
His steps faint echo in the night
He played her like a guitar, familiar but ever effective by the evocative emotions.
A gorgeous ekphrastic poem. Thanks for sharing this lovely tribute to the work and to teachers. This poem is mentioned on the New Poems Review thread in Literotica's Poetry Feedback and Discussion forum.
Feels so true to the spirit in the picture. Too bad you didn't try this as an illustrated piece.
