(Sitting on the backporch, watching the ocean, listening to the rustle of the wind, no time beckoning. But distant on the breeze, the sound of concrete trees.)

Around and 'round the Sun we go,
Filling our heads with submission.
A crowded moment upon heads' pin
And we without calm intermission.

Yoga, Zen, Prayer, Tai-Chi
Comfort to center the balance within,
But many can't stop for want of going
Their lives, a treadmill spin to win.

But stop! Let the air flow by you today.
Life's not a race or train to catch.
Cast off the rules, jump over the fence.
Disappear for a while to let joy hatch.

Enter the arms of Mother Earth,
Cool water, tender earth, warm fire.
Roots grow deep for the tenderness there
To expand your soft, calming desire.

A moment's expansion takes a day away --
Breathe deep the compassion for layaway.
