His touch sends me to the sky.
His touch is harsh, I know not why.
It whispers to me, caring but rough
carrying me to the highest bluff.

It sends me reeling, flailing,
flying through the night.
Not knowing if I’ll land.
Can this be, is this right?

Not caring anymore, I take flight.
Soaring, fearing nothing in sight.
I float over land, I float over sea,
Watching creatures roam, feeling so free.

Knowing this moment will not last
I fight to keep flying, frightened it’s too fast.
As I softly come down, feeling soft and warm,
I hear his voice surrounding me, keeping me from harm.

His words of encouragement,
Kind and compassionate,
“What a good girl you’ve been,”
reminds me, this is how it began.

His voice so soft, no longer rough.
I reach for him, it’s not enough.
By then I know, I’m holding the phone.
He was never here; it was his words that took me home.
