Outside my window the trees are crying
shedding tears in gold and orange hues
floating downward to the stone cold ground
choaking life from the once green grass
bruised emotions fill the sunless sky
with violent streaks of blue and black
turbulent thoughts churning like the
gathering storm clouds filling the horizon
yet somehow, the Phoenix will rise again
from the blackened embers of this
deeply charred and empty soul
