The lonely man
A Vietnam vet
At the age of 43
Cold and desolate
Standing tall
His last moments
On the tracks
His eyes once cloudy
Now piercing blue
Shaggy hair blowing
In the wind
A shrill whistle blows
Clearing the last of the
Cobwebs and confusion
From his head
A ghastly grimace
Then a fierce smile
Memories long buried
Now reclaimed
Around the corner
Races destiny
A long sleek demon
Black as night
Or is it an angel
Of brilliant white light
A solitary tear
Balanced on the edge
Of eternity
Then sweet oblivion
Peace
