The wolf has cried in the night,
calling for her mate, hearing no answer.
She did not hear because she didn’t listen
to what her heart already knew.

Looking and searching, she found no answers;
A restless yearning loneliness was her constant companion.
About to give up, she opened herself to the spirit within,
And heard an answering howl so loud and clear
That it was astounding.

Following the sound, she found One that answered her call.
Blinking in disbelief – it was Him !
He that has been patient, just always there.
Amazing that even blessed with sight, she had been blind to what was before her all this time.

The wolf looks at Him, measuring and weighing.
She feels a peace within her soul as she approaches Him;
He watches with arrogant pride and bearing.

His eyes watch her, never leaving, ever intense.
Smiling softly, His eyes glitter with possession.
“I have been waiting for you, dear heart”, He says.

“I know that now, and do not wish to go away.”

“Welcome home, My precious.”
“Yes, Master, I have come home.
I have all that I need in You.”

The wolf has cried long into the night, hearing no answer.
Her heart once cried out in aching loneliness.
Now she walks and smiles, lonely no more;
Beside her walks the One that is strong, smart –
all that she has yearned for.

Now when she howls in the night,
the wolf hears an answering howl.

The wolf has found her mate
