Afraid of Life 3

anticeptic scents,
plastic cushion table,
poster for dental hygene

pricipal, teacher, nurse
suspected something else

sob uncontrollably,
as they ask leading questions

"Does your mom ever hit you?"
Only when I fight with her, I don't answer.
"What happens when you go to your dad's?"
His family ignores me, I don't say.
"Why are you so upset?"
It's my uncle! It's my uncle! It's my uncle! I can't scream.

Frustrated, angered,
teacher left first,
principal shrugged and walked out,
and nurse hugged, but left, too.

Sobs finally stopped,
ringing voice, cousin chant
"If you tell anyone else what you told me,
I'll beat the hell out of you"

finally shut itself up.

Bell rang,
bus ride home,
the year ended,
and still I didn't speak.

Oh God...

this poem was hard to read. Loneliness and pain. Very well written.

you did very well

handling this subject matter. You created a poem that many will be able to relate to in some way or the other. And for those who can't relate, it's still very readable because of the way you wrote it.
