Theory Of Flying

As I slowly ran out
of velocity, I watched
the city flee. My wings
started to melt, dripping
hot feathers as I fell further
           and further

Colliding with concrete trees,
I landed on top of a hotdog
cart, tumbling onto the pavement

The only landing light was the sun,
mocking me behind a cloud.

I dodged cars as I tried to take off
from the main road, the traffic lights
flirting with me as I started to speed
   slowly breaking through the cloud

I flew, but had no wings.

As I approached the womb,
I sat back and enjoyed the flight.
