Click hereThere are still tears here
the past bleeds down my face
as hollowness settles in my soul
the haunting aura that engulfs
memories that flood over
dripping down my chin
falling to the numbness
that swallowed all feeling
when I lived with you
in our house of cards
teetering, the wolf blowing it in
while I, in a pumpkin shell
dreamed that someday I’d be your princess
The fairy tale ended long ago
enchantment eluded this girl in rags
Withdrawing years ago, I laid it all to rest
knowing there was no glass slipper
and if there was, it was broken
slicing thin skin if I dared try it on.
Surrendering to my fate,
purging Hollywood dreams,
I lay in your arms, wrapped tight.
The same fists that used to pelt me
now hold my hand tenderly
seeking eternal forgiveness
to which I’ve looked, but cannot find.
the broken trail
we leave behind
tears and blood and sand
and even that
over time and time
is washed away
by tide and rain and snow
we carry ours forever
yet forever will pass us by
as lay ourselves to sleep
all the pain and joy
we press between the pages
our bedtime stories
have no fairy tale ending
only everafter
I am told to look forward
well meaning friends
loving family
paid professionals
to times ahead
when as I cross trails
I have walked before
I have to stop and check
the ground for signs
to see if tears are here
yet I know they are
that is all I need
:)

Your writing is so poignant,
deserving of a hug,
with hands that seek to comfort,
bringing solace to a bruised soul.
by your un-ending talent
to produce a thought,
a glimmer of the past
this was an exceptional piece
that i totally get..
and understand.
forgive and forget
have never held hands,
in all the history of the world.
and it never will.
