Love is a gambler's game
Sometimes you win
Sometimes you shame...

THIN AIR

those few days were so intense
we might have been married
or had an affair, then it was over
you disappeared in thin air

you left before the course was served
you missed the meal that you deserved
that taste of you was sorely missed
my cheek embarrassed by your kiss

those hours of joy that we might have shared
like a naked vineyard whose fruit is sheared
the harvest that we might have wrought
lies barren rotting now besot

you left me rigid in despair
I wondered why, it wasn’t fair
you’ve gone leaving unresolved
the plans we made now dissolved

over distance your voice i’ve heard
on the desert wind in the burning sand
i wish to look into you deep brown eyes
that don’t reflect the tears i’ve cried

alas perhaps a test it was
it surely wasn’t lasting love
and yet I loved for those days
then suddenly you went away
