to feel the fingers of the wind
without being blown away

to ride a wild horse
grasping its dark mane bareback
and not be thrown

to dance in fire naked
believing in the heat
and not be singed

to plunge headfirst into the surging surf
of salt meringue
and not drown

to sustain the height these fragile wings
have gained
and land without being crushed
by the velocity of my own flight
