Do you understand what you took from me when you left?
The heart of me ripped free
And taken flight amongst the stars.
Four doors to nowhere.

Cascading brilliance of dying summer light
Flickers through the tall men;
A seemingly sacrosanct love,
Adornment abandoned obsession.

Gaping hole with nothing to fill it;
To this, the living end -
I pack it with earth,
If only for my sanity.

Blackened fingernail evidence,
Blue hued skin pride -
Immortal bastard son removed,
Mark my only crime.

The crow shines his brilliant black death
So beautifully from his nest.
Twigs etch my knees as
I cry to God.

Why?
How?

If you knew?

If only you knew.
