The smell of coffee wakes my senses
The scent of you wakes my dreams
In my hazy morning slumber
Your scent lies upon my pillow
I close my eyes once again
To wish to dream my day away
Was it only last night
That you embraced me in this bed
Was it only this morning
That you quietly slipped away
For in my mind you are still near
Never to leave this dream
The morning sounds slip into reality
I cannot stop the progress of the day
The telephone rings but I fail to answer
I know the caller is not you
Let me lie in peace a few minutes longer
Let me lie in this dream of you
My thoughts wander to the evening bliss
Of yesterday I hope tonight repeats
You in a gown of serenity
I in a state of heavenly kiss
Together our souls will touch the dawn
If I am to be granted this one dream
