I see my little one,
standing on the shore,
so alone.
looking out past crashing surf
longing for the end of love,
the fading embrace of that final silence

but grace, and my voice,
fix her feet to the sand

now let our life lived together
be a testament to love
and when the end
descends like silent snow
in darkened woods
may we smile, looking back
over all the moments
of this precious life
we now are given
