tagNon-Erotic PoetryThis was their finest hour

This was their finest hour

I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears, and sweat.
every man and every woman will have the chance to show
the finest qualities of their race, to lift again the tattered flag
I found lying on a stricken field.
Meanwhile, never flinch, never weary, never despair
be ye men of valour and be in readiness
men will still say, 'This was their finest hour.'
