"People are strange when you're a stranger
Faces look ugly when you're alone
Women seem wicked when you're unwanted
Streets are uneven when you're down" - The Doors

Through the eyes of the strange
are cosmos deranged...
the summer sun
is hollow and glum
resplendent fall leaves
herald snow

workmen at prayer
the wealthy and fair,
marvels of engineering
Kerouacian taxis blaring...
all is blue and wearing

valiant young soldiers at war
sacrificial at the fore...
robotic chaos to abhor.
to bleed so brave
what for?

for those
who've never truly known
comradeship, country, and home...
for those whose
ways are seen
as strange, suspect, obscene...
who have no share
of "amber waves"
nor much liberty
though not, NOT slaves

give us a clue;
what are "such knaves
as we to do
between heaven and earth"
death, sin and birth?
