I traveled across many bridges of change
Cutting through hills skirting your city
Pranced around inside barefoot dreams
That washed me upon your sunlit shores

How the bus rolled on and on until all was gone
Life staring out windows at painted views
Scenery changing on a television screen

Yeah those were the days of my amorous youth
When simply living and loving were my truths

Now all I have left to say is
Goodbye San Francisco
My time there has passed me by
Love the moon was high and so was I
But now it's time for me to say goodbye
Find my soul a brand new home
I don't know when
I don't know where
I don't know why
All I know is it's time for me to say
Goodbye San Francisco

Your motley home of hippies and love beads
Have become indifferent to my dreams
And time is not moving as it seems
Inside life's swinging pendulum of needs

Love when I lay my head upon a patch of green
I can smell patchouli wafting through the air
On neverending days when I have no cares

How I miss the days of my carefree youth
When simply living and loving were my truths

Now all I have left to say is
Goodbye San Francisco
My time there has passed me by
Love the moon was high and so was I
But now it's time for me to say goodbye
Find my soul a brand new home
I don't know when
I don't know where
I don't know why
All I know is it's time for me to say
Goodbye San Francisco

You tattooed a rainbow across my heart
When I was young and twisting in the wind
Now it's sad to say though it's the truth
I have long since been stripped of my youth

Thick skin has grown around my delicate bones
I'm no longer afraid of life's sticks and stones
'Cause they can only break me if I let them

Long gone are the days of my wild youth
When simply living and loving were my truths

Now all I have left to say is
Goodbye San Francisco
My time there has passed me by
Love the moon was high and so was I
But now it's time for me to say goodbye
Find my soul a brand new home
I don't know when
I don't know where
I don't know why
All I know is it's time for me to say
Goodbye San Francisco

After years of searching New York City streets
My feet are finally planted on true ground
Walking new directions pulling dreams from clouds
Inside this existential life under changing skies

Love I wish I knew which direction I was headed
But if I did I'd have an answer for every question
In a world where there's more than a million choices

So far gone are the days of my eternal youth
When simply living and loving were my truths

Now all I have left to say is
Goodbye San Francisco
My time there has passed me by
Love the moon was high and so was I
But now it's time for me to say goodbye
Find my soul a brand new home
I don't know when
I don't know where
I don't know why
All I know is it's time for me to say
Goodbye San Francisco
